Road collapsed?? Huh??

I was just looking out the window this morning and thought I'd prolly talk abt the road outside the apartment that recently collapsed due to the bursting of some underground water pipes.

THIS is what I see outside my apartment. It is STILL quite a sight, isn't it??

Oh well, guess I'll tell you what actually happened. Sometime in Dec 2006 and on a "MONDAY" I must add, the husband woke ard 4 or 5am to take a pee. As he was on his way back to bed, he realised that he could hear quite a racket outside (i.e. people talking yak, yak, yak). He wondered why these people weren't sleeping at that time of the morning. But anyways, he went back to sleep again without checking out what's happening outside (prolly cos he was still half asleep).

A few hrs later, he woke up again to get ready for work. He went to the toilet to take a piss and sh**...and realised he couldnt flush!!! There's a whole colony of "god knows wat" in the bowl..u can't just leave it unflushed! He then went to the bathroom and turned on the taps....and they too were not working. So he scrambled around the house checking all the water taps and got the same outcome...they were all not working. No water..nuthing!! Then, he decided to look out the window and to his amazement, he saw that part of the road outside had collapsed, with water gushing out, like a fountain, through the holes in the road. Dat prolly explains why there's no water supply at all, aye.

So, how the hell is he going to get to work?? He needs to shower, brush his teeth, shave etc...... Well, we dun have a habit of storing away huge containers of water in the house....so we were screwed at that point. Thankfully, we had a bottle of plain water in the fridge...which is abt 1 litre ++. So, he rationed whatever water we had so that he can brush his teeth, shave and clean himself up (the malays would call it "bathing P.Ramlee style"). Was quite a comical sight man!!!! N yeah, how can you forget the unflushed toilet bowl which is full of poops...we had to just leave the lid closed till water supply is reinstated.

And it didnt end there, people! He got into his work suit and went downstairs to the car garage. Shessh! Another whole lot of mess in there...The water from the burst pipes must have flowed towards the garage and the garage floor was totally soaked in muddy water (not just wet ok, its muddy and brown...Urgh!!). What's worst, we had kept some empty boxes in the garage and most of the bases r soaked through...another mess!

Being the particular guy that he is....he was so pissed not only cos of the wet and muddy garage..but also the fact that his shoes got all muddy in the process. He had to make sure all the mud was cleaned off before he entered his precious Rav 4 (which he affectionately calls 'Emily' by the way.....sound so sissy rite!).

What a great way to start the "Monday": (1) no water supply (2) can't flush the toilet (3) can't bathe (4) a muddy garage (5) soaked up boxes in the garage (6) muddy shoes.... Things always had to go wrong on a Monday.

Imagine if you are left at home on a Monday having to deal with the above....nothing to drink, cannot cook, can't pee/shit (cos the toilet bowl still full of "yucky" stuff, thanks to my dear husband), can't bathe...and the list goes on and on.

Thank god, the water supply was reinstated in the late afternoon. Otherwise, we would have gone TOTALLY MAD...
