I think that's a whole of CRAP (with a capital C)!! It was quite a huge dissapointment when we got there. Firstly, there were less than 20 stalls (NOT 200 stalls...you boozooos!!!!). Secondly, most of the stalls only sell vegetables and fruits (I dun see gift shops, Arts & Crafts or homewares - so again, that was crappie!!). Thirdly, all the stalls are on a patch of slightly bushy land...so u gotta go thru all the "lalangs" and stuff!!. Brisbane's Premier Northside Markets...MY FOOT!!!!
Despite that, we managed to buy some cheap veges, which we always need of cos. We bought spring onions (AU$1/bunch), chillies (AU$1/a very small pkt), brinjals (AU$2/pkt) , coriander leaves (AU$1/bunch), white onions (AU$1.50/pkt), red onions (AU$1.50/pkt), lemon grass (AU$1/a bunch of 4) and finally.............."KANG KUNG"(AU$1/bunch). It's the first time ever for me to see kang kung in Oz. Haha!! Imagine this...the supermarket giants are marking up all the products, causing us to pay three times the actual price sumtimes. So, its so REFRESHING to get a chance to buy veges from the wholesalers themselves. Now, we know the trick!
We left Northside markets at ard 8.15 and decided to drive up to Chinatown to see whether the Valley markets are open. The shops weren't open yet of cos (freakin early..u buggers)...so the husband decided to look for a petrol station cos the car is running pretty low in fuel. The husband drove aimlessly for abt 30 mins looking for a petrol station (I honestly thought he knew where he was going!!!). This is despite the fact that the car is equipped with GPS. Men are all the same!! Too shy to ask for directions!! As the search was getting futile, he decided to stop the car and search for a petrol station via the GPS. Tadaaaa...n we're off to a BP station just 2 mins away! Dang...wasted all the time man!!
Anyways, Valley markets in Chinatown was alrite. We didnt spend much time there cos alot of the stuff sold r pretty common (like those found at the pasar malams in Singapore). It seems like a loooong, endless morning...but when we got home...it was only ard 11am. How nice!
