Just so u all get my drift, look at this pic which was taken after my solemnisation last yr. I'm the one in the centre. The red marks on sides of my nose are so clear.........RITE? I have had many spectacles in the past, but these ones that I made (I bought 2 spectacles at one go 2 yrs back!) seem to cause these uncomfortable and unsightly indentations and marks. Dunno wat went wrong seriously!
Contact lenses would obviously solve the problem since there won't be anything sitting on the sides of the nose. But then again, I'm not a major fan of contact lenses. They make my eyes very dry easily and very uncomfortable if I were to use them for more than 5 hours. During the wedding of cos....I dun hv a choice...I had contact lenses on for at least 12 hrs! I can't possibly be wearing my specs on the wedding dais rite. That one, gotta suffer to look pretty.
So, 2 weeks back, I decided to make a brand new pair of spectacles. This time, I wanted to try something different.....!! Plastic frames (with thick sides just like the sunglasses). Not too sure if you all remember, there was a time 7 to 8 yrs back, when plastic frames were the IN thing and considered cool. Then, that phase died down for a while. But the "plastic frame look" came back recently and now, with bolder designs and colours.
I'm obviously not one of the bold ones!! I took so bloody long (abt 30 mins and prolly pissed the optician who attended to me) to look for a pair of conservative-looking plastic frames that won't make me stand out too much in the crowd. I've seen red ones.. green...black...white and etc...but I decided to stick with the brown ones cos they r the closes to the skin colour. My hubby tot I should have gone for bolder colours cos brown is jus so passe and BORING!! But well, I'm the one wearing it and not u, hubby....
It was weird the first time I wore it. I felt like a super geeky gal who just finished polytechnic. And I just have this feeling that people kept looking at me when I'm outside. Gawd, I just felt like running and hide! But I asked my mum for her opinion and she surprisingly said that it looks allrite and normal. My mum is my worst and most honest critic. So if she says it looks allrite....I believe her. And since receiving that affirmation from her, I've been more comfortable wearing it. Dun care wat people say...cos my mum thinks it looks allrite.
Well, this is the end result (Pssst....pic not so clear cos I took it using my Nokia 6230). But still, I'm sure u'll get an idea.
