I'm back!

I know...I know...I have been missing in action for 5 days. My mum-in-law (MIL) came down from Melbourne and we were out practically every single day from Friday to Monday. It was Queenland's Labour day holiday on Monday so Kirk had one extra day off besides the usual weekend.

The past few days have been interesting considering the amount of food we ate and the places we went. Here's a rundown of what we did.

Friday, 04/05/2007
- I went to Brisbane's domestic airport to fetch my MIL at abt 2.00pm. Kirk's working so I took the train alone. By the way, the fares here are so freaking expensive. It costs me $15.80 to take a train from my place to the airport. I know some people might say "Take a cab then!". Trust me the cab would be more expensive. This is not Singapore...where taxi rides from one end to the other end of the country will only cost $20 or so. It could have cost me $50 to take a cab here. So not worth it if you are travelling alone.
- MIL and I took the train back to my place. She refused to take the cab, knowing it's costly.
- We chatted for abt an hour. MIL decided to rest while I continued with work in my home office. The plumber also came to fix the taps and shower head.
- Kirk came back from work. And we had pasta and pizza that nite.

- We woke up early to head down to Carrara Market on the Gold Coast. The roads were packed considering the fact that it was a long weekend. All the jeeps towing boats, caravans etc. How I wish we could do that one day.
- Shopped around at Carrara Market for abt 2 hours.
- Went to a malaysian restaurant for lunch. MIL and I had nasi lemak while Kirk had beef rendang with rice. The verdict is 3/10. It was bad....I think I could cook SO MUCH better!!!!!!!!! So lunch was a major flop.
- We parked the car by the beach at Surfers Paradise while we rested. It was a long day especially for Kirk who's the appointed driver. It was nice watching people kite surfing and swimming. The smell of the sea was also marvellous.
- After the rest, we walked towards Courtyard Marriot to have our seafood dinner. On the way, my MIL decided to do a nose piercing (YES! Serious....) so we dropped by one of the shops. Cost her abt $30++. I asked the lady whether I can watch and she agreed to let Kirk and I in. However, she couldnt see the other end of the nose stud and I could see my MIL in pain. That was the lady flipped and told us "Guys, get out! I've got too many eyes on me!". Durh, Woman.. we asked ur permission and u said ok. Not our fault that you couldnt do your job properly. We got out of the room anyway and waited another 20 minutes. My MIL came out and told us the story that even as we left the room, she was still not able to find the other end of the nose stud. My MIL was in such great pain that one point she decided not to get it done anymore. But one of the guys persuaded her to proceed after what she already went through and got her another nose stud that was easier to insert.
- Straight to Courtyard Marriot for our seafood buffet. Dinner was heaven. The verdict is 9/10. The seafood are all FRESH!!!!
- Drove back to Brisbane. Super tiring day!

- I woke up early to do the laundry and some other housework while Kirk sent his mother to church. Kirk got back to make his wonderful spaghetti sauce while I did some emails too while waiting for MIL. We got ready, left the house and headed down to fetch MIL from church.
- We went to Southbank to have a look at the Buddha birthday festival. Interesting stuff on sale, wushu demonstrations, lion dances, balinese dances etc. Funny to see so many Asians in the heart of Brisbane. LOL.
- After abt an hour, we left to go to Queen Street Mall to have lunch. We had simple lunch (eg.kebabs) since we are heading down to Gold Coast again for a big dinner.
- After lunch, we went to Westfield for Kirk to change his Xbox 360 game again (like other weekends) while MIL and I went shopping for things. We headed back home shortly after to have a rest.
- We fetched Kirk's cousin who's also in Brisbane studying and headed down to Gold Coast. I had baramundi in lemon sauce and avocado while the others had steak.
- Went home...feeling super duper full...Kirk was a lil sleepy during the one hour drive and insisted that I keep talking to him. Dang!

- We decided to head north instead to Sunshine Coast.
- Firstly, we headed to the town of Maleny which is popular for its dairy products. Alot of the places were closed since it was a Labour day holiday but we managed to snoop in a few interesting places. We went to a small town bakery to buy some wondering tarts and eclairs. We also went to Maleny Cheese factory to buy some wonderful cheese..there's chilli cheese, smoked cheese, wasabi cheese (POWER!!), herb and garlic cheese....and the list goes on. Just too bad that there wasn't any cheese production that day. Otherwise we could have gotten a chance to watch the production process.
- Then, we headed further north to Yandina to this Gingerbread place. It's a place full of stuff made from ginger. We went crazy at the shop. We also bought Wasabi Macadamia nuts.... the taste is interesting! Lol.
- Headed to a park to half our lunch cum tea. We brought along some turkish bread, butter, cheese (the ones we just bought), salsa dip (we made ourselves), corn chips, fruit juice, rock melons etc. It was a nice mini picnic. Truly enjoyable!
- We drove back home to Brisbane.

- Its back to work day for Kirk. Too tired that he forgot to bring his glasses (he wore his sunglasses when he leave the house...but forgot to bring along his glasses).
- MIL had to catch an 11am flight back to Melbourne. So i sent her halfway to the Eagle Junction and caught the City train to pass Kirk his glasses.
- I spent abt 3 hours shopping for new work clothes. I tried heaps and heaps of clothings. Met Kirk for lunch at Make Your Own. I ate vege sandwich while Kirk had vege pizza.
- I headed back home while he went back to work. The rest of the day I was busy doing emails at home. Back to normal life!!

P.S. I'll be posting the pictures we took during the last few days in Multiply. Go and have a look.
