I have been scouting around for pisang kepok..but they were either not available or cost A$14 a kilo (which is super RIDICULOUS!!). Normal ripe bananas only cost abt A$2.99 a kilo.
Over here, I can't be too fussy abt things so I tot maybe I'll just get the ripe bananas and improvise to make my OWN fried banana (no need to use difficult-to-find stuff like kapur or use too much oil).
So I got my BANANA......
and spring roll pastry.....
Then, I cut one banana into 8 medium sized pieces. I cut the pastry into 4 smaller pieces and used the banana strips as filling (instead of the normal spring roll filling). Use either egg white or cornflour (+ a bit of water) to seal the ends.
And i just used a bit of oil to cook it (no need a pot of oil to cook it).
These ones are not fried yet!!! Just sample...
(You can see that the ones on the left are yellow while the ones on the right are white. This is because the pastry on the left is made with egg while the ones of the left is not. So when buying, look at the labels carefully. For a more crunchy effect, buy the one without egg - white one)
Verdict:
SEDAP (delicious)............and super simple (only 2 main ingredients).
Can eat them on its own or with ice cream or....use your own creativity.
