In conjunction with the Christmas and New Year's holidays, Greater Union and Birch, Carroll & Coyle has organised a 3-movie marathon challenge on 28 December 2007 (Fri). When Kirk and I found out abt it, we decided to give it a go since its going to be on a Friday evening and only costs $20 per person. There were 4 movie combinations for movie-goers to choose from and we opted for Marathon 2 (Golden Compass, Fred Claus, Rush Hour 2)!
Marathon 1:
I AM LEGEND
BEOWULF
1408
Marathon 2:
THE GOLDEN COMPASS
FRED CLAUS
RUSH HOUR 3
Marathon 3:
ALIEN Vs PREDATOR REQUIEM
HITMAN
DIE HARD 4.0
Marathon 4:
NATIONAL TREASURE : BOOK OF SECRETS
THE GAME PLAN
ENCHANTED
We so wanted to wanted to watch I AM LEGEND but the main reason why we didnt choose the other marathons is cos we've either watched some of the movies or that they are just not our cup of tea.
So, as usual....Kirk and I went to work yesterday. We left the office slightly early at 4.30pm and rushed home to have some rest. We ate dinner and then I headed off to take my nap. Kirk, on the other hand, decided to play his wrestling game on his Xbox despite knowing that it'll be a long night. I woke up at 10.15pm and we headed off to take a shower...to make sure we are fresh for the movies. Left the house at 10.30pm and arrived at Westfield Chermside almost at 11.00pm. There were a whole bunch of people...mostly teenagers in their PJs and smelly pillows waiting outside the cinemas. Wat a sight!!!
For some reason, Marathon 2 wasn't as popular as the others and there were only 20 people in our cinema. Well....its good for us...cos we can watch the movies in peace without having to deal with noisy teenagers. Golden Compass started at 11.30pm, followed by Fred Claus and the last movie, Rush Hour 3 ended at 5.15am. Surprisingly, I was able to keep myself awake throughout...thanks to my nap! As for Kirk, he was awake allright....but was yawning throughout the show.
My take on the movies?? Golden Compass was a bit of a dissapointment i think! So much hype abt the movie....but not much substance. The plot moves pretty slowly and the cliffhanger at the end just shows that they are planning to have some kind of a sequel....copying the Lord of The Rings trilogy (not like I watched Lord of The Rings in the 1st place...). Fred Claus was a warm and funny family show. Rush Hour 3.....was stupid but hilarious. Same old storyline like the past Rush Hour shows....but Chris Tucker's just nuts!
Would I do it again? In a heart beat!! It's just so fun...and it's the first time ever I've stayed out the WHOLE NIGHT.
After the movies, we headed home and slept till noon.....ZzZzZzZz
